We offer an Early Childhood Program (Kindergarten). It is a half day program. The primary focus of the Kindergarten Program is to lead and direct students through structured and unstructured play activities. Many of the specific activities are reinforced by field trips. The entire program is intended to help students develop spiritually, physically, academically, socially, and emotionally.
While we make use of the Alberta curriculum for the elementary grades, our teachers integrate a Christian world view into all subjects that they teach. Our approach to the curriculum is to begin where the child is, and to ensure that they progress at a steady pace, and master the skills and knowledge in every area of learning. All students also study French as a second language. There is a strong emphasis on the development of literacy and numeracy. We seek to develop an attitude of student ownership of the learning process, assisted by the teaching staff. We insist that this happens in an organized and orderly way, and that students exercise good behaviour and social courtesy in the classroom and on the playground.
Our music program includes the use of Orff techniques as well as vocal lessons, so that students gain a solid understanding of the place of music in our world.
We value the visual and performing arts, and encourage students to develop their appreciation of these areas of human endeavour. Through planned lessons they have the opportunity to explore various mediums and techniques.
Until our own gymnasium is built, we transport students to a nearby gym for physical education classes during the winter months.
We have a specific Christian Studies subject, sharing with our students what Christians believe and teach about God, the Bible and living in this world.
We offer a program of support for those families who choose to teach their children at home. Parents who register through our school will have access to a teacher on our staff, and to the resources they need to develop their home based program. We are also able to offer a blended program in the greater St Albert area, where students can come to the school for some lessons and activities if parents wish this to occur.
In time we will introduce the junior high program to our school. Our entry into this higher level will require sufficient enrolments to allow for a reasonable range of subject offerings.
